Two Girls, One Book is about a couple of friends coming together to marry their two favorite pastimes:

Reading & Laughing at Shit.

Every month one of us will pick a “Book of the Month” that we will read, review, and talk about here on the site. We also intend to voice our opinions on various book related matters, post reviews of our side books, share curated lists, wax poetically about our favorites, and compare books with their respective film or television adaptions.

Nine years ago, Katie and Taylor met in the unlikeliest of places; Borders Books (may God rest their soul), where Taylor pushed caffeine and Katie hustled literature. The girls found kinship in their shared obsessions with Rocky Horror Picture Show, Vietnamese coffee, David Bowie, and mocking everything they witnessed Mystery Science Theater 3000 style.

Taylor is a wife, a mom of soon to be two, a former scientist, and a reader of everything from fine literature to pot boilers. Her favorites are Angela Carter, Dostoyevsky, Charlotte Bronte, Sylvia Plath, and about a fifteen others.

She is an unapologetic believer in aliens, Bigfoot, and baking things from scratch. She’s a terrible dancer with equally terrible taste in music, a dedicated Bowie fan (redeeming, somewhat, the aforementioned terrible music taste), and enjoys pretending to be an expert about things she knows nothing about.

Katie has been an avid reader since before reading was cool. She proudly judges books by their covers, but will read anything she can get her hands on. Her favorites are Haruki Murakami, Ben Okri, Tom Robbins, and Neil Gaiman.

She has not yet found her ‘Whatta Man’ man, and looks forward to meeting him.

When not reading, you can find Katie worshiping at the alter of Lana Del Rey, doting on her cat Boris, training in Muay Thai, or studying Tarot.

We encourage you to read along with us and we are always open to book suggestions.
